The home’s design language was established before selecting stone: hickory, structural angles, and a palette favoring warmth and texture over polished finishes. The goal was to find surfaces that naturally belonged within this vision.
Taj Mahal Satin Quartzite was selected for the kitchen and bar. Its cream and gold tones paired well with the hickory, and the satin finish offered a grounded elegance. The stone’s appearance shifted with the natural light, transitioning from soft morning hues to richer afternoon tones.
The Kitchen and Bar: Engineering a Focal Point
The countertop work in the kitchen and bar followed the material. Clean runs of Taj Mahal Satin across the perimeter and island, consistent with the warmth the space was already built around. Navy lower cabinets anchor the room below, and the windows at the sink bring the lush landscape directly into the kitchen.
The Taj Mahal Satin continues onto the window sills, carrying the stone through the frame and into the light.
The detail that defines the room sits above the range.
